Last October, Minsur participated in the event “Making, Valuing and Communicating SDG impact”, organized in New York by the Business for 2030 forum, an initiative of the United States Council for International Business (USCIB). Minsur presented its experience implementing Social Progress Index (SPI) in the areas of influence of mining operations.
The Social Progress Index (SPI) measure the extent to which countries and regions meet their citizens’ social and environmental needs. The relative performance of countries is measured with 54 indicators gathered around three main dimensions: basic human needs, essential wellbeing and progress opportunities.
Since 2016 Minsur adopted this index aiming at better focusing and orienting its social investment policy in the areas where it operates, thus being able to comprehensively measure its operations’ impact.
