Interview with Jessica Vasquez, Sustainability Manager

Jessica Vasquez, our Sustainability Manager, tells us about Minsur’s pride upon being recognized by S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2025, and gives us more details about our organization’s 2030 sustainability strategy.

1.- What does this recognition represent for Minsur?

The fact that we are included in the Sustainability Yearbook 2025 is an important recognition that fills us with pride. This achievement places Minsur among the 20 mining companies with the best environmental, social and governance performance at the international level, as a result of a very comprehensive evaluation carried out by the firm S&P Global.

This year we are very pleased with the results achieved, especially in key areas such as Health and Safety, Business Ethics and Human Capital Management, where we are in the top 1% of the industry.

For us, the process itself generates a great deal of value. These comprehensive evaluations allow us to systematically measure our performance, identify gaps, compare ourselves with our peers, and drive continuous improvement in the different areas of our management. We take all of this as a learning opportunity.

2. What sustainability efforts were critical to this achievement?

We have been working consistently over time. The company has a 2030 sustainability strategy that involves several areas of the organization and defines short, medium, and long-term objectives, which we measure and report regularly.

In terms of the environment, for example, our guidelines for the reduction of emissions, our efforts to reuse water, and our use of alternative sources stand out. The B2 Plant allows us to reuse the tin from the old tailings of the San Rafael mine, another example of circular economy.

In the area of health and safety, it is worth highlighting the culture of prevention that we seek to promote inside and outside the company. For example, this year we carried out the Vision Zero initiative, which seeks to prevent traffic accidents by involving different stakeholders, including vehicle manufacturers, cargo carriers and personnel, as well as service users and administrators.

In the social area, our Mobile Clinic, which has provided more than 2,500 treatments in 33 localities in Puno, taking preventive health services to the most distant places, is particularly remarkable.

3.- What are Minsur’s next steps in sustainability?

According to our 2025 action plan, the company intends to continue advancing along our sustainability path, seeking to generate value for our different stakeholders. Among the issues prioritized are projects aimed at reducing emissions, continuing to strengthen our human rights management and due diligence for the responsible sourcing of minerals, as well as sustainability efforts linked to suppliers and contractors.
